Trio Nebulizer Cystic Fibrosis

The Trio, approved by the FDA in 2010, is an eFlow nebulizer system used with inhalant solutions used to treat P. aeruginosaa bacterial infection common in patients with Cystic Fibrosis, which can cause breathing difficulty, pneumonia and a lack of oxygen.

The trio can be used in conjunction with TOBI, Hyptertonic Solution, Dornsa alfa, Bronchodilators, Colistin and Budesonide Respules to fight P. Aeruginosa.

The Trio is portable, light and contains cutting edge vibrating membrane technology for fast and effective treatment.

The Trio is commonly used by patients with Cystic Fibrosis and IV solutions, a full service pharmacy serving all 50 states, is one of three pharmacies in the U.S. currently offering the Trio to those that need it.

Components of the Trio

The System:

The Trio system is made with eFlow Technology which serves as the controller and power source of the nebulizer. The Trio system runs on four AA batteries as well as having an option for using an outlet for power.

The Handset:

The handset of the Trio system is where the medication is mixed. With an easy to use handset and mouthpiece the Trio handset makes treatments effective, simple and quick.

Tips for the Trio

  • Do not mix medications, use only one medication for your Trio.
  • Use only recommended Cystic Fibrosis medications with your Trio.
  • Clean the Trio system regularly to avoid any risk of illness or infection.
  • Always refer to the dose recommendations chart when preparing for treatment.
  • Always consult your physician and CF care team about using any medication or inhalation equipment.

Why you need a Trio


Intended Use: The eFlow SCF / Trio is a handheld nebulizer that will be used with patients for whom doctors have prescribed medication for nebulization. The eFlow is intended for adult and pediatric patients. The FDA has not approved any combination of a medication with the eFlow SCF/ Trio device as a drug/device combination.
